Since July 1st to July 6th of 2003 the Oriana quartet performed on the Radom – Oronski International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music. The sixteenth traditional festival was one of the most important events in the cultural life of Poland. During summer and autumn there were concerts held throughout Poland with participation of the most prominent organists and other musicians as well as singers from the USA, Japan, Europe and many other world countries. Thanks to arrival of the Oriana bandura-players to the festival the Ukrainian bandura was heard by audience live. During the six concerts, Oriana acquainted the Polish audience with the Ukrainian folk and author songs. For the first time the Polish music fans had the chance to hear the classical musical compositions performed with bandura, also accompanied by bandura.
In their own turn, our artistes were very glad to perform with the Polish organist Waldemar Krawiec since they never had a chance to listen to real organ music in Ternopil let alone performing with the organist. For Oriana it was also important that its concerts took a place in the ancient monasteries of Poland, namely in the monastery of the Fathers of Bernardines in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. A beautiful monastery on foresty hills is the important Christian spiritual centre of Poland. Thousands of pilgrims come to that monastery. Many festival concerts take place there in summer time.
Successful concerts, good reviews given for the performances by Oriana on the television, radio and in press favoured the optimistic mood of the quartet and successful completion of their performance on the festival. After a few days we set forth for the planned concert tour in France.
